Domoto “New Ranch” Nursery

In 1902 the Domoto Nursery, having outgrown its 55th Ave. location, moved to a large tract of land  on Krause St. at the foot of the Oakland hills. This large scale nursery, known as the “New Ranch”,  employed  and trained many Japanese flower growers who eventually started their own East Bay nurseries. The New Ranch operated at this location until the affects of the Depression forced its closure in 1930.
