The Contra Costa Library hosted a virtual panel about the Japanese American floral industry on October 26, 2021. The virtual event featured Growing a Community‘s Project Director, Dana Ogo Shew, presenting an overview of the industry. Ken Kokka’s documentary, Blossom and Thorns, was screened, courtesy of the Contra Costa JACL. Dana then moderated a panel with Flora Ninomiya and James Oshima, whose families had flower nurseries in Richmond. Watch the recording here: https://youtu.be/7gQNqFWLoVU”>e/7gQNqFWLoVU
